Fiat 8V Zagato ’54

This gorgeous Fiat 8V Zagato chassis nr 000069 was built in March 1954 and then shipped to Zagato. License plate MI265417 was issued in March 1955 in the name of Count Carlo Castelbarco Rezzonico.

This Fiat 8V Zagato was successfully raced in several events:

  • 1955 XXII Mille Miglia #408 Castelbarco – Savoretti – finishing 13th overall
  • 1955 Coppa 6 Ore Orbasano #16 Elio Zagato – Sassoli – finishing 1st overall
  • 1955 VII Coppa InterEuropa #110 Sassoli – finishing 6th in GT 2000 Class
  • 1956 XXIII Mille Miglia #314 Sassoli – Schoen – finishing 21st overall
  • 1956 VIII Coppa InterEuropa #81 Sassoli

In March 1958 the car was sold to Giancarlo Sala and a new plate number BS666676 was issued. In 1958 Giancarlo Sala was first in the GT2600 category for the 1958 Trofeo della Montagna.

Also in 1959 Giancarlo Sala continued to enter the car successfully in several events

In July 1959 the car was sold to Enrico Mosca and a new Roma 374230 plate was issued.

Later in September 1962 the 8V Zagato was sold to Mario Verdi in Città della Pieve and the car got the license plate PG56937.

The present owner bought this Fiat 8V Zagato in 1985. He ordered a first restoration for racing purposes. He personally raced the 8V in several events in Campionato Italiano Autostoriche between 1989 and 1992.

In 2001 the owner got a set of picture of the car when it left the factory in Zagato in 1955. He decided then to bring it back to its original configuration and commissioned the job to Carrozzeria Quality Cars. The restoration was finished in 2003 and the car took part in several events and exhibitions in the following years:
